UNIT · MEGAPHONE · REV.A

The megaphone module.

A 5HP, 3U Eurorack module that turns a 1960s BT rotary telephone into a fluent modular controller. The hook switch is your mode selector. Dial pulses become value settings - together your phone will program dual clock signals, dual CV outputs and a pair of mono audio outputs driven direction from the handset microphone.

    Module functionality.

Plug a telephone into the megaphone via a standard RJ11 connector. The module reads the rotary mechanism, and decodes pulse trains into integer values. Using the hook switch for mode selection aind the rotary dial for data input, you can control two channels of gate/clock, two channels of Control Voltage (CV) and two channels of audio, routed from the telephone handset microphone. The audio is gain-staged by the module, bringint it to a suitable dB level for your modular audio chain.

Internally: a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 handles the timing-critical signal processor the state machine in firmwhare, which we have written from scratch. A Front-panel OLED displays your position in the control stack with very simple feedback. Whilst phone and module are callibrated in the studio, the module includes a simple callibration routine which allows any other compatible telephone to be used.

Each module ships paired with one phone from the family. They are not sold separately.
