UNIT · MEGAPHONE · REV.A

The megaphone module.

A 5HP, 3U Eurorack module that turns a 1960s BT rotary telephone into a fluent modular controller. Dial pulses become CV. The cradle becomes a gate. The bell becomes a trigger you can drive back from the rack. The phone keeps its dignity. The system gets a new dialect.

    What the module actually does.

Plug a paired phone into the megaphone via a single cable. The module debounces the rotary mechanism, decodes pulse trains into integer values, and emits them as quantised CV. Lifting the receiver opens a gate. Dialling produces a clock at the pulse rate. The bell coil can be driven from a trigger input, so the rack can ring the phone back.

Internally: a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 handles the timing-critical work in firmware that we have written from the metal up. Front-panel LEDs follow the scope-trace palette — blue for activity, orange for cradle state, dark for idle. The phone wiring stays standard: any 700-series instrument can be converted with care.

Each module ships paired with one phone from the family. They are not sold separately.

We do not stock these. Each unit is made deliberately and paired with a specific phone. Enquiries about commissions, performance loans and partnerships are welcome.
